JAY-Z Wrote An Essay Pushing For Projects That Demand Social Justice

“The power of one voice is strong, but when it comes to social justice, the power of our collective voices is unstoppable.”

      JAY-Z wrote a guest column for The Hollywood Reporter, calling on everyone to work towards social justice, whether it is on a local level or national level.

“His is the kind of story that you can’t ignore, and people are starting to see that what happened to him is not an isolated case,” writes JAY-Z of Kalief Browder, who committed suicide after he was held without trial on Riker’s Island, most in solitary confinement, for three years. “He’s just one example in a system that is broken. We need to be the ones who fix it.”

After announcing the release date for his Pretty Girls Like Trap Music album on Tuesday, 2 Chainz stopped by The View to discuss the upcoming project. The show was co-hosted by Ohio governor and former Republican presidential candidate John Kasich and his interactions with the Atlanta rapper made for some cringeworthy moments.

When asked about a potential bid for mayor in his hometown of College Park, Georgia, 2 Chainz explained that he believed he would a potential race but said that his current residence outside of the district stopped him from running. Kasich chimed in, advising the rapper to “drop the yo” if he ever planned to run for office.

Jay Z shares a snippet of “Adnis” in latest ‘4:44’ ad.

“Adnis,” a new track from Jay Z has surfaced in part online. Featured in a brand new ad for ‘4:44,’ the track with a somber piano melody leads off as a message on Father’s Day from Hov to his late father, Adnis Reeves. “Letter to my dad that I never wrote / Speeches I prepared that I never spoke,” Jay raps in the :30 ad. “Words on a paper that I never read / Proses never penned they stayed in my head.”

Watch the ad here. Billboards for “4:44” began appearing all over the globe, leading fans to speculate more about a new album from Hov himself. Tidal revealed that “4:44” is a film starring Mahershala Ali, Danny Glover and Lupita Nyong’o. The film (and possible album) arrive on June 30, a collaboration between Tidal and Sprint.

Bryson Tiller Drops ‘True To Self” Album A Month Early

 Fans of Bryson Tiller were expecting his sophomore album, True To Self, to drop in June.

Instead of waiting until next month, the R&B singer decided to release the project overnight.

“i [sic] know we said June 23rd… but i [sic] say we Set it Off Tonight!! ALBUM OUT NOW,” posted Tiller on Twitter.

The 19-track LP does not have any featured artists.
